About Me

Husband, Father, Businessman, Author, Executive Coach & Thought Provoker

I’ve spent much of my professional life working with people, leading teams and organisations, and trying to better understand what makes leadership effective in the real world.

Along the way, I’ve come to appreciate that leadership is rarely as straightforward as the theories, models and processes we use to explain it. While these can be enormously valuable, the realities of working with people, making decisions and navigating organisational life are often considerably more complicated.

My own thinking has been shaped by years of practical leadership experience, formal professional development, coaching and mentoring, and perhaps most importantly, the many people I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from.

One thing I’ve come to believe is that understanding what good leadership looks like and actually practising it are not always the same thing.

Over the years, I’ve developed a particular interest in the relationship between leadership, human behaviour and organisational culture. Why do we sometimes struggle to do what we know is right? Why do well-intentioned processes occasionally get in the way of good judgement? And why do we sometimes make leadership more complicated than it needs to be?

These are some of the questions that continue to interest me.

Leadership, Coaching & Reflection

Alongside my business leadership career, I’ve developed a professional executive coaching and mentoring practice.

My approach draws on both formal coaching education and practical leadership experience. I believe strongly in helping people discover their own answers through listening, questioning and reflection, while recognising that sometimes a constructive challenge or a different perspective can be equally valuable.

Writing has also become an important part of how I explore and make sense of my experiences.

Since 2015, I’ve shared my thoughts on leadership, people and organisational life through articles and reflections. I don’t write because I believe I have all the answers, but because writing encourages me to question my own assumptions and consider different perspectives.

In 2026, I published A Practitioner’s Guide to Leadership in the Real World: Leading with Clarity, Courage and Common Sense, bringing together many of these experiences and reflections.

Through LookInside, I hope to continue sharing those thoughts, alongside my approach to coaching and mentoring, in a way that encourages others to reflect on their own experiences and perspectives.
